The Sustainable Flowers Podcast:

A conversation about sustainable cut flower growing and designing between two passionate Canadian  growers trying to figure it out.

Heather and Clara grow cut flowers for market on the northern edge of the Canadian Prairies.  In this podcast they discuss the issues they face and alternatives to conventional approaches that they are putting into practice or are trialing to ensure that their small-scale flower farming operations are sustainable. Looking to the past and to new technologies to learn the whys and hows, they discuss everything from peat to floral foam, Antirrhinum to Zinnias as well as their weekly adventures on their Zones 2 and 3 flower farms.

Feb 25, 2019

In this mini catch-up episode you will hear the our "field notes" conversations recorded in late January, early February 2019.

Our learning curve around podcasting has been steep and as you know we just published our first 3 episodes last week.

We wanted to do this catch-up episode to bring our "field notes" conversations, that happen at the end of each episode, up to date with the release of each new episode.  So when you listen to Episode 04, which will be released the week of February 25th 2019 or Horticulture Week 9, that our "field notes" conversations pretty much match up.

So in this episode there are 2 "field notes" conversations

1) recorded the last week of January 2019, or horticulture Week 5

and

2) recorded the first week of February, or horticulture Week 6

We missed recording a "field notes" conversation in the 3rd week of February 2019 (horticulture week 7)

Thanks so much for listening!

Our theme music was composed and performed by Heather's son Callum, and the challenging task of audio editing was completed by the uber-talented Laura Eccleston.
